With the Degree in Social Education from the CCUC at the University of Alcalá de Henares in Madrid, you will gain the necessary training to work with people and groups at risk of social exclusion by applying programmes based on education as a tool for change.

Social educators are professionals who contribute to the well-being of people by accompanying them to achieve their development, promoting their sociability, their access to education, their incorporation into the world of work, their participation in culture and, in short, their social integration.

You will be able to work in different areas such as childhood, immigration, drug addiction, disability, penitentiary institutions, the elderly, adult education, etc., collaborating in the creation of a fairer and more caring world.

Educational aims and competences

This degree will train you to face the next challenges:

  • Understand the foundations of socio-educational action.
  • Design programs and projects that aim to improve the lives of groups or individuals in situations of risk of social exclusion.
  • Anticipate the comprehensive educational needs of students, taking into account their family and sociocultural environment.
  • Know the agents, resources and networks of educational action.
  • Learn to plan, manage and evaluate activities and processes aimed at the cultural and social promotion of citizenship.
  • Develop critical capacity and ethical commitment in the diagnosis of social problems.

SOCIAL EDUCATOR PROFILE

To become a social educator and dedicate yourself to one of the most beautiful professions in the world, your profile should include:

SALIDAS PROFESIONALES

As social educator, you can work on the public sector, in entities of the Third sector (asociations, NGOs, ets.) or as a professional in this fields:

  • Children, adolescents and young people: Youth centres, toy libraries, leisure centres, occupational training centres, shelters for children and adolescents, prevention and intervention in the family environment, primary and secondary schools, farm schools, etc.
  • Adults: Centres for socio-occupational integration, penitentiary centres, residential centres for abused women, assisted flats for people over 18 years of age, information and care centres for immigrants, etc.
  • Elderly: Day centres, residential centres, supervised flats, home help services and leisure clubs.
  • Drug addictions: Diagnosis, guidance and follow-up services, day centres, residential centres and residential flats.
  • Disabilities and mental health: Early stimulation centres, training and guidance centres, occupational centres, special work centres and support services for labour integration.
  • Community care: Diagnosis, guidance and monitoring centres, day centres, residential centres and residential flats.
