Degree in Psychology
Understanding to help
Studying the Degree in Psychology will train you as a professional and you will acquire the necessary knowledge to understand and explain human behaviour.
With this degree you will acquire basic skills and abilities to evaluate and intervene in different contexts (education, clinical, social…) and with people and groups of different ages (from children to the elderly).
You will be able to work in an increasingly valued profession that seeks to promote and improve people’s health, psychological well-being and quality of life.
Educational aims and competences
Due to Psychology degree has to have a general nature, the student programme want to train multipurpose, giving a solid basis of knowledge and habilities about discipline and an initial basic training in order to access to differents fields of Psychology in which the main carrer opportunites are located, linking to those studies: clinic and health field, education field, work field and social intervention field.
The general nature of the degree, do not exclude that the students can configure, in certain way, its training, focus it prioritily in a specific field of Psychology, through external practicum and final degree project.

PSYCHOLOGIST PROFILE
To become a psychologist and dedicate yourself to one of the most exciting professions in the world, your profile should include:
- Desire to learn about aspects related to the functioning of human behaviour and the human mind and to dealing with people.
- Interest in the ultimate foundations of human life.
- Eagerness to know aspects related to health and quality of life.
- Ability to analyse problems, diagnose them and propose solutions.
- Ability to analyse, synthesise and relate to groups.
- Ability to understand and abstract, sociability, broad vision of the world and perspective on its possible evolution.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
- Clinical and health psychology: private and public mental health and consultation centres, hospitals and occupational health units and emergency facilities.
- Educational psychology: public and private educational centres, care teams of public bodies and private consultation offices.
- Psychology of social intervention: public social service centres, development cooperation and NGOs in areas such as minors, youth, women, the elderly, the disabled, immigrants, etc.
- Psychology of work and organisations: companies and human resources departments, career guidance, staff selection, training and occupational risk prevention.
- Legal psychology: courts, forensic clinics, police, prisons, armed forces and victim care units working as experts, forensic experts, counsellors or mediators.
- Community care: Diagnosis, guidance and monitoring centres, day centres, residential centres and residential flats.
- Other professional fields: sports psychology, coaching, advertising, marketing, communication and intervention in disasters and emergencies, among others.
